What is Pilocar?

Pilocarpine reduces the amount of fluid in the eye, which decreases pressure inside the eye.
Pilocar (for the eyes) is used to treat glaucoma or ocular hypertension (high pressure inside the eye).

Uses

Pilocar eye drops uses is used alone or with other medications to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma or other eye diseases (e.g., ocular hypertension). Lowering high pressure inside the eye helps to prevent blindness, vision loss, and nerve damage. This medication may also be used during certain eye surgeries and to reverse the effects of drugs used to enlarge the pupil (e.g., during an eye exam). Pilocarpine works by causing the pupil of the eye to shrink and decreasing the amount of fluid within the eye.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Oral form: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one. Warnings for special population

Pregnancy - Pilocar 2 eye drops is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before using this medicine.
Breast-feeding - This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before using this medicine. Pilocar side effects

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious Side-Effects :
  • severe stinging, burning, swelling, or redness of your eye;
  • vision changes;
  • eye pain or increased watering; or
  • crusting or drainage around your eye.
Less serious side effects may include:
  • mild burning, stinging, or discomfort of your eyes;
  • blurred vision; or
  • trouble seeing in dark light.

Storage of Pilocar Eye Drops

Pilocarpine store at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.
