Zonat Eye Drop : Uses, Price, Side Effects, ...

Description

Zonat 5% Eye Drop is an anti-fungal agent that is also known to protect against yeast and moulds. It is used to treat various kinds of fungal infections. Some of the fungi that the drug fights against are Candida, Aspergillus, Fusarium, Peniciliium and a few others. In most cases of skin infections, Zonat 5% Eye Drop is topically applied as a cream or gel. There are other forms of administering the drug. Some of them are in the form of eye drops or in the form of lozenges. The latter is used for oral intake and to treat mouth infections such as oral thrush or other yeast infections. However there is low absorption of the drug, in the gastrointestinal system when it is taken orally, therefore it cannot be taken this way to treat systemic infections. The drug attacks the fungal cell walls, damages them and eventually kills them. This inhibits the spread of disease. This medicine is not recommended for use by children.

Dosage

Zonat 5% Eye Drop dosage preferred initial dosage in fungal keratitis is one drop of natamycin ophthalmic suspension, 5% instilled in the conjunctival sac at hourly or two-hourly intervals. The frequency of application can usually be reduced to one drop 6 to 8 times daily after the first 3 to 4 days. Therapy should generally be continued for 14 to 21 days or until there is resolution of active fungal keratitis.
